Class of 2011 Computer Requirements
All undergraduate students in the Pamplin College of Business are expected to have a laptop or tablet pc. Intel Macs are acceptable but users will still be expected to have Windows installed. (More Mac Info) Tablet pcs are recommended as they have capabilities beyond a normal laptop and offer excellent in-class notetaking and searching utilities. - Windows XP Professional. sp2 or Tablet PC 2005, or Windows Vista Business Operating System (system should be Vista Ready).
- Required Student Software Bundles (only available to business majors)
- Core 2 Duo processor or AMD equivalent
- Memory - 2 GB Ram
- 100 GB Hard Drive (5400 RPM minimum)
- 128 MB+ Video RAM shared
- DVD+-RW
- 802.11a/g Wireless NIC
- 10BaseT Ethernet Card
- 1 GB USB Flash Memory (Vista ReadyBoost Capable recommended)
- 160 GB External USB Hard Drive (for backups)
- Inkjet or Laser Printer
- Warranty - 3 years parts and labor on-site (damage protection policy strongly recommended)
If you are bringing a computer you already own, it should meet the requirements for the Class of 2010. If you choose to bring an older computer you should expect to purchase a new one before you graduate. Purchase of both the "Pamplin Business Student Bundle" and the "Microsoft Campus Agreement Software Bundle" will still be required.
