Biography

Dave Miller (Colonel, USA (ret), Ph.D. candidate, Virginia Tech) is the Deputy Commandant for Leader Development for the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets and the Interim Director for the Rice Center for Leadership.  Colonel Miller served over 26 years as an Armor Officer in the Regular Army, holding every command position from platoon leader to Brigade level command.  His service included tours in West Germany, various posts in the United States and a four year tour at the White House.  His military education includes the Armor Officer’s Basic Course, the Field Artillery Officer’s Advanced Course, the Command and General Staff Officer’s Course and the Army War College.  He has an earned Master’s degree in Secondary Education from The Louisiana State University, an earned Master’s degree in Computer Resource Management from Webster University, and a certificate from Harvard’s Advanced Management Program offered by the Harvard Graduate School of Business.  He is currently a doctoral student in the Virginia Tech School of Education’s Instructional Design and Technology program with research interests in the area of effective use of technology for teaching leadership.
