Biography
Jon M. Shepard (Ph.D., Michigan State University ) is Professor Emeritus, Department of Management. Prior to coming to Virginia Tech in 1989, Dr. Shepard spent one year as a research associate in the Sloan School of Management at M.I.T. and was Chairman of the Department of Management and Associate Dean of the College of Business and Economics at the University of Kentucky . He has been an Associate Editor of The Sociological Quarterly, and has published numerous articles in a variety of professional journals, including the Academy of Management Review, Business Ethics Quarterly, Journal of Business Ethics, Personnel Psychology, Industrial Relations, Industrial and Labor Relations Review, Sociological Quarterly, Sociology and Social Research, and Social Forces. His books include Automation and Alienation, Organizational Issues in Industrial Society, and Sociology. His current research focuses on ideology and ethics in business. Dr. Shepard has been the recipient of the University of Kentucky 's "Great Teacher Award" and has received the Pamplin College Doctoral Teaching Award.
